How MBTI, Enneagram & Growth Level Combine

MindPsych's compatibility percentage is a product-generated reflection prompt, not a validated probability or relationship verdict. This guide explains which type labels inform it, which context it leaves out, and how to use it cautiously.

MBTI — Cognitive preferences

One input to the product score

Cognitive-function theory describes each MBTI type with an ordered stack. MindPsych uses type-related differences as one input to a reflection score, but a function pairing does not establish relationship quality, communication skill, or future compatibility.

Enneagram — Motivational themes

Another input to the product score

A reported Enneagram core and wing add a motivation-oriented lens. MindPsych includes those labels in its product score, while recognizing that a short assessment cannot establish another person's private motive or predict how a relationship will unfold.

Growth reflection — Current context

Not part of the score

Growth Level is not calculated into the Compatibility score. The separate reflection can prompt questions about current stress and behavior, while communication, safety, values, history, circumstances, and skills remain essential context outside any type score.

The Enneagram's Growth & Stress Directions

Enneagram theory maps each core type to two other points and uses those lines to discuss possible patterns under greater security or stress. The model can suggest questions about relationship friction, but it cannot establish the cause of one behavior.

Why the Same Pairing Can Feel Totally Different

Take INTJ (The Architect) as an example — the exact same cognitive stack shows up very differently depending on growth level:

Healthy INTJ

You approach each day with purposeful strategy while remaining open to unexpected insights. Your relationships are deep and intellectually stimulating. You balance ambition with self-care and genuinely listen to others' perspectives.

Unhealthy INTJ

You push people away with cutting criticism and intellectual superiority. You may spiral into cynicism, believing no one understands your vision. Physical health and relationships suffer as you retreat into obsessive planning without action.

These two authored descriptions illustrate how the app's Growth language can change the reflection around the same INTJ label. They do not prove how a particular person will behave or clinically classify their wellbeing.
